The Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania, also referred to as the Pine Creek Gorge, stretches for over 45 miles with depths of nearly 1500 feet. The dynamic topography of the PA Grand Canyon creates many scenic wonders, including steep canyon walls and waterfalls. The PA Grand Canyon is part of the Tioga State Forest, beginning just south of Ansonia, PA, near Wellsboro. One of the most popular attractions to the canyon is the Pine Creek Rail Trail, a converted railroad bed that travels along the Pine Creek Gorge at the floor of the canyon. USA Today cites the Pine Creek Rail Trail as one of the 10 great places to take a bike tour in the world. Because of the gentle grade, the trail offers easy pedaling, hence it can be experienced with minimal physical impact and basic biking gear. And of course it also makes for good hiking and running.

The Pennsylvania Lumber Museum is a fun and educational experience for the entire family. Nestled in the wooded mountains of Potter County, the museum invites visitors to discover the courageous yet reckless spirit of Pennsylvania’s lumbering past while learning to care for the forests of the future. Interactive exhibits in our Visitor Center simulate activities such as swinging an ax, sawing a tree, piloting a log raft and racing locomotives for a hands-on experience with history. Outdoor exhibits located across the 10-acre campus include a re-created early 20th-century lumber camp, a 70-ton Shay geared-locomotive and a Barnhart log loader, and two historic log cabins- one built by the C.C.C. in 1936 and the other constructed in 1961 by outdoor enthusiasts Bob & Dotty Webber. Our operable steam-powered sawmill is run three times a year at our Spring Show, Bark Peelers’ Festival, and Fall Show events.

Jefferson County History Center is a non-profit organization founded in 1967. Our mission is to present Jefferson County’s history to county residents and visitors through our exhibits, educational programs, and publications. Officially designated historical society for Jefferson County. JCHC showcases many unique exhibits depicting the history of Jefferson County and the surrounding areas. Our research facility provides an extensive library, public computers, genealogy resources, and searchable archive database relating to the history of the county. The gift shop is filled with publications, logo apparel, educational items, toys, and local souvenirs. The mission of the World of Little League®: Peter J. McGovern Museum and Official Store is to inform and educate people about the history, service, goals, and initiatives of Little League® Baseball and Softball. This has been achieved by obtaining and curating artifacts and archival materials from the world’s largest organized youth sports program, and carefully presenting them in a way that is both informative and entertaining. Hundreds of these artifacts on display are organized for research and educational purposes, and are used in exhibits to be enjoyed by people of all ages. Thousands more are curated in the archives of the museum. The Little League Baseball® Museum originally opened in 1982. Each year since then, it has welcomed tens of thousands of visitors.
