Jefferson County History Center is a non-profit organization founded in 1967. Our mission is to present Jefferson County’s history to county residents and visitors through our exhibits, educational programs, and publications. Officially designated historical society for Jefferson County. JCHC showcases many unique exhibits depicting the history of Jefferson County and the surrounding areas. Our research facility provides an extensive library, public computers, genealogy resources, and searchable archive database relating to the history of the county. The gift shop is filled with publications, logo apparel, educational items, toys, and local souvenirs. We host a variety of family-friendly events including Scripture Rocks guided tours, cemetery tours, bicycle poker run, Bowdish Model Railroad operating days, and exhibit/ trade shows showcasing Indian artifacts, antique rifles, war memorabilia and collectibles.
